MASON CITY — Marion F. Giesseman, 82, of 1303 10 St. S.E., died Thursday (Dec. 25, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Marion F. Giesseman Memorial Fund.

Marion F. Giesseman was born Jan. 8, 1915, at Piqua in Orange Township, Miami County, Ohio, the son of William C. and Bonnie (Millhouse) Giesseman. Marion graduated from Sydney, Ohio, High School in 1933. He was baptized at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Piqua. Marion was a sales engineer in the tool and die field, retiring in 1982. That same year the Giessemans moved to Mason City. Marion was a member of the Society of Tool Engineers and enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

Marion married Ruth E. Lund Dec. 21, 1946, at Wesley Methodist Church in Marion, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Giesseman, Mason City; four daughters, Andrea Frank and her husband, Steven, Park Rapids, Minn., Marjorie Rehbach and her husband, Conrad, Viroqua, Wis., Joanne Giesseman, Minneapolis, Minn., and Judy Richards, Tipp City, Ohio; three sons, Michael Giesseman and his wife, Julie, Cedar Rapids, Norman Giesseman, Tipp City, Ohio, and David Giesseman, Tipp City, Ohio; one brother, Elden Giesseman, San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Betty Elson, Sydney, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Betty Giesseman, Piqua, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Willard; and one sister, Florence Comer.
