MASON CITY — Chloe Jean Garcia, 68, of 2218 S. Jersey, Mason City, died Friday (March 18, 2011) at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, with the Rev. Ed Bard, chaplin of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Burial will be Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (today) at the funeral home and one hour before the service.

Family suggests memorials to Chloe Jean Garcia Memorial Fund.

Chloe was born on July 7, 1942, in Plymouth, the daughter of Ray and Lenore (Falk) Griffith. She graduated from Plymouth High School.

Chloe married Frank Garcia on Oct. 2, 1976, in Albert Lea, Minn. She continued her education at North Iowa Area Community College and finished her education with a master’s degree in social work. She worked at the Mental Health Center of North Iowa for 14 years and then Spring Harbor in Nora Springs, retiring in 2010 due to her battle with ALS. She was very devoted to her clients.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Plymouth Monthly Coffee Club, Parents United and was past board member of Community Credit Union.

Chloe is survived by her husband Frank Garcia, Mason City; four children, Frank (Tammy) Garcia Jr., River Falls, Wis., Tim (Shawn) Garcia, Owatonna, Minn., Krystal (Howard) Walker, Mason City, and Anne (Kevin) Moorehead, Nora Springs; nine grandchildren, Bryson Eppens, Grayson Garcia, Colby Moorehead, Cameron Morehead, Kolton Rottinghaus, Kollin Rottinghaus, Mathew Gail, Kendall Moorehead and Kayla Garcia; and one sister, Shirley (Martin) Charlson, Chino, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Griffith.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of North Iowa for their excellent care and the special friends who stopped by to do her hair and nails which meant a lot to her.
