Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaLinda D. Zimmerman, 72, of Mason City, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Dan Gerrietts and Rev. Robert Vaage, Linda’s nephew, officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church on Tuesday one hour before the service.
Memorials may be directed to the Linda Zimmerman Memorial Fund.
Linda was born January 15, 1943 in Mason City the daughter of Michael and Oval (Scobee) Stossivich. She attended school in Mason City and Buena Park, California. Linda married Larry Zimmerman November 12, 1958.
Linda worked for the former Co-Mo Photo Company and later at the First National Bank in Mason City for many years. Most recently, she was employed at Major Erickson Funeral Home where she dearly loved greeting people during visitations.
Linda had a Bible study group called the “Bible Buddies” which she led for many years. She served on the board of the Mason City Christian Women’s Club, VFW Auxiliary and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She also volunteered for Hospice of North Iowa and Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.
She loved decorating, reading and baking but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and sisters, Karen Vaage and Gwen Schaer.
Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Zimmerman of Mason City; sons, Michael (Andrea) Zimmerman of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and Douglas (Karen) Zimmerman of Altoona; grandchildren, Ryan, Brittany, David and Matthew Zimmerman; siblings, Karen (LaVern) Vaage of Mason City, Ora (Robin) Stossivich of Sarasota, Florida and Keith (Clarice) Harriott of Lakeland, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and other extended family members.
