Marlys Jean Thompson September 1, 1935 - February 21, 2018

Marlys Jean Thompson, 83, of Mason City passed away February 21, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, with her family by her side.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery 11495 265th Street, Mason City, Ia 50401 followed by a time of Fellowship at the Praise Community Church 11 2nd St NW, Mason City, IA.

Marlys Jean Eveland was born on September 1, 1935 to Ghlee and Bessie (Martin) Eveland in Mason City. She grew up in Mason City, graduating from Mason City High School in 1953.

On June 16, 1956 Marlys married Jack Thompson. To this union a son was born, Tracy. For 32 years Marlys served as the Deputy Auditor for Cerro Gordo County. She also worked as a Student Funds Clerk at the Mesa, AZ School District for 12 years.

Marlys enjoyed swimming, bowling, playing pool, but especially loved to travel.

Marlys is survived by her son, Tracy Neal Thompson of Osage; granddaughters, Jakki (Andy), Jade (Alex), Jasmine (Jon), Zoey Thompson, and Destiny Thompson; nieces and nephews, Mark Paulsen, Cathy Ferrier, Greg Paulsen, Joe Paulsen, Cristy Tass, Jeff Paulsen, Larry Paulsen, Matthew Paulsen, Lisa Lane, and Michael Eveland; as well as extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, a sister Marilyn Paulsen-Aldrich, brother, Donald (Judy) Eveland and a niece Cindy Eveland.
