Brandon Prather was born on April 27, 1982, in Mason City, the son of Mike and Candy (Graves) Prather. Brandon attended Harding Elementary School, as well as John Adams Middle School in Mason City. He later moved with his mom to Tracey, MN, were he attended Tracy Area High School, graduating in 2001, with honors all four years.

Brandon had many hobbies most we would find rather dull. He found nothing but pure joy. Brandon just loved staying close to his family and few friends. He loved to make you smile and was always determined to make you laugh. You couldn’t help to laugh back because some would say his laugh was contagious and his smile would make you smile. When he wasn’t entertaining family and friends he enjoyed watching movies and series. Brandon also was a gamer and loved to do Facebook games. Other hobbies he loved were collecting knickknacks, especially elephants and beanie babies and DVD movies. Music was his joy when no one was around.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Mike and Candy Prather of Mason City; his sister, Jessica (Mitch) Wayne of Maquoketa, IA; three nieces, Shayla McChesney of Pottsville, PA, Maddison McChesney of Mason City, and MaKenna Wayne of Maquoketa; Brandon recently welcomed the newest member of the Prather family his great nephew Elias, born Dec. 1, 2015; his paternal grandmother, Veronica "Bonnie" Prather of Mason City, his maternal grandpa, Merlin (Jackie) Graves of Sedalia, MO; his aunts and uncles, Kathy Bledsoe, Sue (Mark) Janssen, Jane Query, Tara (Mike) Harry, Chuck and Bea Graves, Mike Graves, Steven (Ann) Bombella, Stuart Bombella, Tony (Maria) Bombella, Lisa (Joel) Hanson; godfather, Bill Query, and special great aunt, Judy Wagner; cousins, Jennifer (Kurt) Walker, Amy (Derek) Pike, John Janssen, Billie Sue Query, Nicholas Query, Libbie Bombella, Cameron Brunstein, Daniel Roath, Nico and Devan Bombella; as well as his close friends, Dustin Barnes and Amber DeMaris.
