February 28, 2018THORNTON -- Keith G. Pals, 66, of Thornton, entered eternal rest Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church, 1301 N. Carolina, Mason City. Interment will be at Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Retz Funeral Home, 107 N. 2nd Street, Thornton.
Keith was born the son of Daniel and Bernita (Philipp) Pals, March 1, 1951 at Belmond, Iowa. He grew up in Meservey, Iowa and graduated from Meservey-Thornton Community School in 1969.
Keith married Kristine Kriens on June 13, 1970 at the Thornton Methodist Church. They went to Northwestern College in Orange City, graduating in 1974. He then pursued Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan and Dubuque, Iowa; obtaining his M.Div. Degree in 1980. Keith pastored for 32 years, serving 6 United Methodist in Iowa and one independent church in Illinois.
After retiring he enjoyed Bible studies, prayer groups and mentoring those who were interested in the ministry. Keith loved spending time with his wife and family, and friends, especially if a cards or a game were involved. He enjoyed encouraging people where ever he went and prayed with many of them.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife Kristine; daughter, Amy Titler, Hazelwood, MO and her children: Jordyn and Jonathan; daughter, Annette Pals, Mason City and her children: Alexis and Taylor (Brad Romer) and daughter: Kyah; son, Brian (Sarah) Pals, Hartley, IA and their children Matthew (fiancée Ashlynn Kampo), Emma and Ellie; 4 siblings: Lois Diggs, Schertz, TX; Delbert Pals, Mason City; Harlan (Rosemary) Pals, Clear Lake; Debra (Tim) Martin, Fairmont, GA; sister-in-law: Pam Pals; mother-in-law: Florence Kriens, Clear Lake; sisters-in-law: Karen (Jim) Ries; Koleen (Dennis) Black; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, brother Curtis Pals, brothers-in-law, Jack Walker and Duane Diggs, sister-in-law, Rhonda Pals.
