MASON CITY -- Max Hubbard, 76, of Mason City, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st St. NE, with Pastor Chuck Kelsey officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 until 7 PM at the church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com. [Interment was made at Elmwood-St.Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.]

Max was born January 23, 1941 the son of Lynn and Lois (Ransom) Hubbard in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School and later entered into the United States Army in 1959 serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1962. On December 17, 1961 Max was united in marriage to Carolyn Lehmann at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. To this union sons Steve and Paul were born.

Max was a member of the Mason City Fire Department for 22 years, drove truck for Scott-Chase Trucking, worked at Specialty Archery Products and drove a school bus part time for 8 years. When not working, Max was known to enjoy the outdoors. He loved spending his time hunting and fishing and working in a few rounds of golf with his friends. Max also enjoyed camping with his family and spending winters in Texas. A music lover at heart, he was often found listing to his favorite Blue Grass tunes. But of all of Max’s interests and hobbies he was most proud of each and every one of his family. He was often heard telling friends of all their accomplishments.

Those thankful for having shared in Max’s life include his wife, Carolyn; sons, Steve (Lori) Hubbard, Paul (Stacey) Hubbard; sister, Janet (John) McBride; brother in law, Fred (Ruth) Lehmann; six grandchildren, Lindsey, Ashlyn, Eryn, Ethan, Colin and Avery Hubbard and his favorite little puppy, Molly.

Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in law, Kevin and Tom Lehmann.
