MASON CITY - Bernice M. Hubbard, 81, of Mason City, died Thursday (Oct. 19, 2000) at her home.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with a Women of the Moose Service at 6 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Cancer Center.

Bernice was born on Feb. 19, 1919 in Mason City, the daughter of John and Mary (Boda) Oleskey. She graduated from Holy Family High School in 1937 and then from Hamilton Business College. Bernice was united in marriage to Dale Hubbard in Princeton, Mo. on April 6, 1942. She worked for many years in the offices at Decker's and Standard Oil in Mason City and Oscar Meyer in Chicago, Ill.

Bernice enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, working in the yard, playing with her dog, Mason, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Women of the Mason City Moose Lodge.

After a full life and 58 years of marriage, Bernice has gone to be with the angels.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Dale, of Mason City; two daughters, Julie Hubbard Kahler and her husband, Frank, of West Des Moines, and Ann Hubbard Miller and her husband, Rick, of Mason City; one son, Fred Hubbard and his wife, Cynthia, of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren, Bob Olsen, Cal Olsen, and Penny Olsen, all of Mason City, Dana Hubbard and Scott Hubbard, both of Marshalltown, James Hubbard, of Prescott, Ariz., John Kahler and Amy Kahler Seiler and her husband, Rob, all of West Des Moines; two stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Miller and Kelly Miller, both of Mason City; two great-grandchildren, Madison Seiler and August Brandon Olsen; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Jeremy Ryan Miller.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren, Mark Kahler and Carson Olsen.
