MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Phillip J. Funk Sr., 85, of Marquette, died Tuesday (Aug. 10, 1999) at the Norlite Nursing Center, in Marquette.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home, Marquette. Inurnment will be on Sept. 1, 1999, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

There will be no visitation. Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home, Marquette, is in charge of arrangements.

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Phillip J. Funk Sr., 85, formerly of 222 S. Fifth St., Marquette, Mich., died Tuesday (Aug. 10, 1999) at the Norlite Nursing Center, Marquette, where he had been a resident since March.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home, 926 N. Third St., Marquette, Mich., with the Rev. Paddy Palomaki, of New Life Church, officiating. Family inurnment will take place on Sept. 1, 1999 at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City, Iowa.

The Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 7, 1914, in Mason City, Iowa, to Jacob and Louise (Schmidt) Funk and had lived in this area for many years. Years ago, he worked as a butcher for the Armour Meat Company in Mason City and prior to retiring, worked as a security guard at Marquette Senior High School for many years.

He attended the New Life Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his many friends at Snowberry Heights.

Phillip is survived by two daughters, Delores (Ronald) VanHorn, of Mason City, and Louise Copple, of South Sioux City, Neb.; two sons, Phillip (Sandy) Funk Jr. and Claude (Marcia) Funk, both of Mason City; three sisters, Mary (Jesse) Allen, of Plymouth, Iowa, Regina (Robert) Ackerson, of Cedar Rapids,and Betty Funk, of Mason City; two brothers, Frederick (Marion) Funk and Frank Funk, both of Mason City; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettie, in 1997; brothers, Albert, Joe, Jake, Willie and Herman; a sister, Rosa; and three grandchildren.
