Jon R. Lichman September 20, 1960 - February 27, 2018

Jon R. Lichman, 57, of Mason City passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St. SE, Mason City, with Reverend Austin Wilker, celebrant. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, IA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City, IA with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:30 p.m..

Memorials may be directed to the Jon R. Lichman Memorial Fund in care of his family.

Jon Russell Lichman was born on September 20, 1960 to Peter Lichman Jr. and Betty Jo (Powers) Lichman in Mason City.

He attended Mason City public schools, and graduated from Ventura High School in Ventura, CA. (or IA.?) He then attended Northwest Iowa Technical College and graduated with honors from the Power Line Installer Program.

He was employed at Pacific Gas and Electric in Salinas, California as a lineman from 1984-1987; Interstate Power, now Alliant Energy in Mason City as a Journeyman Lineman and Substation Electrician Foreman from 1987-2008; and then started employment at Utility Line Construction/ ITC Midwest in Albert Lea, MN as a Substation General Foreman from 2008-2018.

Jon was an active and long term member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union.

Jon was united in marriage to Yolanda Ibarra on April 20, 1985 in Monterey, CA. To this union three children were born, Elena, Danielle, and Alex. Jon enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on vacations, hunting, boating, and his annual fishing trip with the guys in Willmar, MN.

Jon is survived by his wife of 32 years, Yolanda Lichman; three children, Elena Lichman of Mason City, Danielle Lichman of Chicago, IL, and Alex Lichman of Glen Ellyn, IL; his brother, Tim (Laurie) Lichman of Mason City; his sister, Nancy (Mike) Likness of Ventura, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Lichman.
