November 1, 1940 - February 23, 2018MASON CITY - Nancy L. Hoveland, 77, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Salvation Army Church, 747 Village Green Drive, with Lt. Kenyon Sivels officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the church service. Inurnment will take place at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Nancy Hoveland. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.
Nancy was born November 1, 1940, in Mason City, the daughter of Vern and Agnes Leona (Currier) Tims. She attended Mason City Schools. Nancy worked in the food service industry for many years until her retirement in 1998. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, singing at church, reading, socializing, laughing, playing cards and going out to eat. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Nancy is survived by 5 children: Penny Hoyer and husband Troy of Fort Dodge, IA, Robert Hoveland and wife Tracy of Mason City, Matthew Hoveland and wife Zelda of Osage, IA, Lisa Youngers and husband Michael of Topeka, KS, and Dawn Piper of Mason City; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Donna Novak and husband Robert of Grundy Center, IA; 1 brother: Thomas Tims of Mason City; sister-in-law: Lovie Tims of Cincinnati, OH; and brother-in-law: Pat Lindsey of Wichita, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
