Merlin Duane Ruiter March 20, 1931-Feb. 23, 2018

MESERVEY -- Private Graveside Services for Merlin Duane Ruiter of Clear Lake, formerly of Meservey, will be at a later date.

Merlin was born March 20, 1931 in Belmond, Iowa the son of Henry and Minnie (Gruis) Ruiter and died on February 23, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Fekkers on October 7, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Roxanne and Ritchie.

Merlin was baptized and confirmed at the First Reformed Church in Meservey.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, his children: Roxanne (Kurt) Ronsen, Westminster, Colorado, and Ritchie Ruiter of Clear Lake, IA; step brothers: Jerry (Marlys) Stille , Mission, TX and Richard (Joyce) Stille, Swaledale, IA; sister-in-law Shirley Schmidt; half sister-in-law Barbara (Fekkers); aunt Gladys Wolters; step aunt Grace Stille; aunt-in-law Myrna Yakel, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie; stepfather Kermit Stille; father-in-law Ruben Fekkers; mother-in-law Katherine (Fekkers) Pals; step father-in-law Jacob Pals; brother-in-law Walter Schmidt; half brother-in-law Walter Fekkers.
