Charles L. Fuller January 17, 1940 - April 12, 2017

Charles "Chuck” L. Fuller, 77, retired Air Force Capt. for over 26 years, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday (April 21, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City, with Reverend Kenneth Gehling officiating. Burial will be held in Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth, with military honors conducted by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday (April 20, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

He graduated from Nora Springs High School in Nora Spring, Iowa. He graduated from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. He entered in to the military Oct. 1962. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas, were he graduated from basic and attended Officers School at Lackland. His first assignment was England AFB, Alexandria, Louisiana. He then was assigned to Osan AFB, South Korea, Nellis AFB, Nevada, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, Ramstein AFB, Germany and finally McConnell AFB, Wichita, Kansas. He retired at McConnell AFB, Wichita, Kansas in Oct. 1988.

During this time frame, he was on several TDY's stateside and worldwide. He was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one silver and 2 bronze oak leaf clusters; Air Force Good Conduct medal with 3 Bronze oak leaf clusters; Air Force Recognition Ribbon; Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; National Armed Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters; Air Force Overseas Short Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 1 silver oak leaf cluster; Master Security Police Qualification Badge.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America; he achieved Life Scout, also the Order of the Arrow (distinguished camping association of Boy Scouts of America) achieved Vigil member, American Legion;4H Young Shooters, Member of VFW Post #136, Mulvane, Kansas.

He loved the outdoors and the things you can do in it. He was a man of many accomplishments and interests, but more than that he was one of the biggest characters you could meet. Unlike many that I have met, he could talk to anyone. He spoke of history with such enthusiasm and passion, that you would probably learn more American History from him in an hour, than an entire high school career. He was a man with exemplary character, who created a family with the most loyalty, kindness, and acceptance than I have ever known. The family would like to extend a great thank you to his extended family of the Worman family for their support and help. The VA Hospitals employees, Sunshine, Sharon, Lisa, Shea and the entire staff.

Survived by his loving wife of 51 years Margaret “Peggy” of Wichita, sons Edward (Laura) Fuller of Finksburg, MD, Christopher (Tammy) Fuller of Plymouth, IA, grandchildren Julius Fuller of Plymouth, IA, Ariel Fuller (Tristan Schiro, fiancé) Phoenix, AZ, Amanda (Justin) Swanberg, Rapid City, SD, SPC Stephen Fuller, USA Fort Carson, CO, great grandchildren Kira, Hiro, Sammy, Severus and Fiona Swanberg and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many grand puppies.

Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ocea Mae (Piper) Fuller, brothers Edward, Gerald, Walter and his sister Namoi.
