Viola June Jermeland, 91, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Hospice of North Iowa.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a one hour prior visitation on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N Delaware Ave., Mason City. Pastor Mark Lavrenz will be officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Viola was born on March 3, 1926, in Sheffield, IA, to Carl William Niles and Carrie (Hartman) Niles. She attended schools in Plymouth. For 32 years Viola worked at Armour (formerly Decker) Meat Packing Plant in Mason City. On April 29, 1973, she was united in marriage to Willard “Willie” Neil Jermeland. He later passed away in 2005.

In her free time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word finds. Viola also loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them shopping and buying them gifts. She was the mother of two children, George Perry, Sr. and Carl Perry, Sr. Viola’s family knows she is at peace being reunited in heaven with her son George Perry, Sr., who died in 2013.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Carl (Faye) Perry, Sr., of Kensett; daughter-in-law, Debbie Perry of Plymouth; step-children, Dennis Jermeland of Nora Springs, Marv (Diane) Dicke of Mason City and Scott (Denise) Marth of Nora Springs; sister, Shirley Carlson of Mason City; sister-in-law, Anna Niles; 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jermeland; son, George Perry, Sr.; brothers, Art Niles and Carl A. Niles; sisters: Irene Groven, Rosie Kittleson and Mary Climer and 3 great-granddaughters.
