Sally J. (Walters) Thrams, 87, of Mason City, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Steve Hansen officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Sally was born Dec. 15, 1929, the daughter of Thomas B. and Hazel M. (Dull) Walters. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1947.

Sally married Charles B. Thrams on Jan. 1, 1948, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa, and to this union five children were born. She was a life-long resident of Mason City.

Sally began working for Sears in 1967 in the candy department and later transferred to the administrative office before retiring in 1986. She was an avid gardener and thoroughly enjoyed working in her flower beds. Sally also had a love for reading, enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, and cooking and baking for her family. She especially enjoyed family vacations at Clear Lake and Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

Sally was a lifelong and very active member of Grace United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was active in her circle, and served on numerous committees throughout the years.

Sally cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and dearly loved all of her family. She will be deeply missed.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Charlie, children Michael and wife Susan of Camdenton, Missouri, Thomas and wife Susie of Iowa City, Rhonda and husband Daryl Pyle of Mason City, and Jonathon and wife Dawn of Fort Dodge; son-in-law Ed Behrmann of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Amy (Stuart) Knight, Brian (Ann) Squier, Jamie (Katie) Thrams, Brenton (Christina) Pyle, Alecia Pyle, Matthew and Courtney Thrams, 10 great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Willard and Bernice Thrams, daughter Cynthia; two brothers, Thomas and Raymond Walters, and one sister, Linda Lubkeman.
