James A. Ruehlow, 37, of Mason City died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Sid Bohls of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Family requests that casual attire be worn.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to James A. Ruehlow North Iowa Community Credit Union, Mason City.

James Ruehlow was born on April 1, 1977, the son of Billy and Barbara (Van Osten) Ruehlow in Mason City. He received his education in Mason City Community schools and lettered in football. James worked for the Heartland Asphalt Co. for the past 14 years, DOT for 5 years and he owned his own snow removal company that he enjoyed during the winter months with his son Matthew.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved the weekend family day trips; however, his motor sports, fishing, hunting, camping, and working on cars were some of the many things he enjoyed. His greatest joy came from spending time with his son Matthew and also with his family, friends.

James is survived by his parents, Billy and Barb (Van Osten) Ruehlow; twin brother, Mark Ruehlow; half-brother, Arlo (Serena) Swinton (and children); wife, Krista Anderson and son Matthew Ruehlow, cat, Snoopy; father and mother-in-law, Dan and Kathleen Anderson; sister-in-law, Andrea Anderson, brother-in-law, Travis (Karitta) Makenna Anderson; aunt, Susan Van Osten; two uncles, David Van Osten, Bob (Kim) Ruehlow and many cousins, relatives and many numerous friends.

James is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Phyllis Van Osten, Norman and Valeria Ruehlow, Frank Thornton; uncle, Bob Van Osten and aunt, Deb Ruehlow.
