Avonne E. Gradin, 91, of Mason City, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Matthew Muters, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Avonne was born July 8, 1924, in Mason City, the daughter of Vincent and Olive (Enabnit) Welsh. She graduated from Mason City High School. Avonne married Clarence LeRoy “Bob” Gradin January 1st, 1946, in Mason City. She worked as a sales clerk for Damon’s Department Store and for a brief time at Capital Optical and Morel Jewelers.

Avonne is survived by her son, Marlin L. Gradin of Clear Lake; 2 granddaughters, Tracy Gradin and Tara Gradin, both of Mason City; 4 great-grandchildren, Chace Jacobson, Micah Radcliff, Zaya Gradin and Samuel Gradin; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Hayzin, Aaralyn and Noah.

Avonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence “Bob” Gradin in 1977; infant son, Timothy, and a great-grandchild, Zaid Kahil Gradin Lagios.
