June Ione Gibbs, 83, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa
.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

June was born June 29, 1933, the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Thompson) Foss in Forest City, Iowa. On Feb. 11, 1954, June was united in marriage to Carl O. Gibbs Jr. in Mason City, IA. To this union four children were born.

Over the years June mastered the hunt for the ultimate antiques and garage sale finds. She would spend hours at garage sales with her sister Mary, it often seemed like a social time for them both as well as the person holding the sale. She also loved a good book and spending time baking. June was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Those thankful for having shared in June’s life include her children, Helen Holtan, Carla (Terry) Dempsey, Christopher Gibbs; sister, Mary Starn; grandchildren, Heidi (Aaron) Wilson, Erik Holtan, Nick (Emma) Holtan, Erin (Kenneth) Hudson, Joshua Dempsey, Megan Dempsey; great-grandchildren, Helena and Drew Holtan, Pierce and Piper Wilson, Kairi, Alexandria, Gabriel, Roman and Kenna Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Solsaa, Cheri Ringis; two brothers-in-law, Walter Tanner, Jack Ringis and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl; son, Carl Gibbs III; grandson, Andrew Holtan; son-in-law, Paul Holtan; sisters, Clarice Fank, Helen Fank, Lois Tanner; brother, James Foss and several nieces and nephews.
