Elinor Lauritzen, 69, Sheffield, Iowa, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997 at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the United Methodist Church, Thornton, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Gochenauer officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

Elinor was born Oct. 27, 1927 in Thornton, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Hannah (Smith) Jacobsen. She attended the Thornton Public School system graduating with the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Burger Lauritzen on July 28, 1956 in Forest City. They made their home farming just west of Sheffield. Elinor enjoyed flowers, bowling, playing Bingo and cards with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Hobbiebrunken and her husband, Ken, of Thornton; one son, Bart Lauritzen and his wife, Lanette, of Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Travis and Trisha Hobbiebrunken of Thornton and Caitlin Lauritzen of Clear Lake; one sister, Florine Peters, and her husband, Ernest, of Thornton; three brothers, Hans Jacobsen and his wife, Velma, of Thornton, Alvin Jacobsen and his wife, Mary, Torrance, Calif.; and Irvin Jacobsen and his wife, Luella, Honolulu, Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother.
