Elizabeth “Lucile” Bailey, 101, of Mason City, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am, Thursday (March 17, 2016) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 N Broadway, Manly. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Wednesday (March 16, 2016), at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring Street, Manly, with a Scriptural Wake at 6:30pm.

Lucile (Murray) Bailey was born November 21, 1914 on a farm near Clear Lake to Leo and Mary (Dolan) Murray. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1933.

In 1939 Lucile moved to Plymouth. On January 9, 1954, she was married to Russel, "Lee" Bailey, of Sand Creek, Oklahoma at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Plymouth. The two lived in Sand Creek for three years before returning to Plymouth.

Lucile was a member of St. Michael's until it closed in 2003, then attended Sacred Heart in Manly. She was also a member of St. Michael's Guild, former Board member, substitute CCD teacher, a communion distributor and custodian for the church for over 25 years, and did a lot of volunteer work for the sick and elderly.

She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing, reading and traveling. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to travel to see them in North Carolina, Georgia, and Alaska, and her grandson’s ball games in Osage.

Lucile is survived by two children, Gary (Nancy) Bailey, Story City, and Carol (Don) Hepler, Wasilla, AK; grandchildren, Christy (Erik) Osborne, Everett, WA, Cathy (Justin) Freeman, Everett, WA, Dan (Heather) Hepler, Chugiak, AK, Dave (Luci) Hepler, Palmer, AK, Drew Hepler, Omaha, NE, Doug Hepler, Wasilla, AK, and Sean Bailey, Story City; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russel "Lee" Bailey, 1982, parents, Leo and Mary Murray, grandson, Ryan Patrick Bailey, sisters, Leona Jensen and Irene O’Grady, 7 brothers-in-law, 1 sister- in-law.
