LeRoy Smith, 73, of Mason City, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home. Online condolences may be left at www.fullertonfh.com.

A graveside service will be held at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Casual attire is preferred. The Rev. Paul Schaefer from Plymouth Bible Baptist Church will officiate.

LeRoy Luverne Smith was born on April 30, 1941, to Luverne and Ruth Smith in Iowa City, Iowa. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Mason City. LeRoy enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17. He served eight years in the Marines. He was honorably discharged after being wounded.

In 1967, LeRoy was united in marriage to Janet Gordon in South Dakota. They resided in Mason City and LeRoy worked 29 years for Cerro Gordo County as a Road Foreman.

In his free time LeRoy enjoyed being outside. He loved the outdoors, tending to his yard with all the beautiful plants and flowers. LeRoy was an accomplished woodworker and crafted many things out in his shop, leaving us with all the great memories and treasures. LeRoy will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Every day LeRoy would meet his friends at 12:20 at Pro’s Sandwich Shop for coffee.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janet; sons, Cory and Zach Smith; sisters, Linda (Wayne) Stromley, Sharlene (Joe) Juhl and Judy (Ralph) Klobassa; and brothers, Jerry (Erma) Smith and Mike (Linda) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Smith in infancy; and special uncle, Daryl Steuerwald.
