Manly – Rosemary Brodersen, 86 of Manly, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 E. South St., Manly, with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Following a luncheon, burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly or the American Cancer Society.

Rosemary was born November 2, 1931, the daughter of Peter and Amy (Hove) Van Sabben in Kensett. She married Ervin Brodersen on June 4, 1950, at Sion Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Rosemary graduated from Kensett High School. She was a homemaker all of her life, but also contributed to the family farm. She also volunteered at the Mercy Cancer Center in Mason City for 20 years and Worth County Welcome Center.

Rosemary was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, served on the Worth County Historical Society and Worth County American Cancer Society Boards, and was a 4-H leader. She was an avid card player and member of many card clubs. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, all variations of thread crafts, especially quilting, and being a part of the Red Hat Society. More than anything, she cherished her family, grandchildren and their families, and the time spent with them all.

Rosemary is survived by two children, Shirley Brodersen of St. Ansgar and Steven (Kathryn) Brodersen of Manly; three grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Berding, Brooke (Blair) Brunsvold and Angela (Doug) Millard; six great grandchildren, Chase, Reese and Sydney Berding, and Avery, Ellie and Fletcher Brunsvold; a brother, Jon (Ellen) Van Sabben of Northwood; a sister-in-law, Arlene Van Sabben of Northwood; two brothers-in-law, Leland Gibbs of Oregon and Elmer (Marolyn) Brodersen of Manly; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Phillip Van Sabben; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Van Sabben, Bonnie Smith and Adrianne Gibbs.
