MASON CITY -- Mamie C. Bell, 92, formerly of 1111 E. State St., died Friday (May 21, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Rodney Holmberg of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon Tuesday until service time at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Mamie C. Bell was born Aug. 17, 1906, on a farm in rural Hancock County, to William and Emma (Wahl) Dieger. Mamie attended country schools in Hancock County. She was married to T. Russell Bell on July 9, 1932, in Garner. She moved to Mason City and was employed at Sam Raizes Department Store for many years. After she retired, she and Russell did custodial work in Mason City.

Survivors include one son, Russell R. Bell and wife, Beth, of Wylie, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica, Emily and Clinton Bell of Wylie, Texas, and Kimberly and Shanna Bell of California; one niece, Carol Showalter of Belmond; one nephew, Bill Dieger of Belmond; and a special friend, Bart Pals and wife, Jody, Mason City, and their children, Katie and Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell, in 1994; one brother, Henry Dieger in 1988; and one nephew, Paul Dieger.
