Rockwell -- Dolores Idell Avise, 87, of Rockwell, IA died Monday, July 3, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 502 2nd St S, Rockwell. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rhea Evanson officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. The family requests casual attire for guests who attend the funeral.

Dolores was born on January 12, 1930 in Hanlontown, IA to William and Louise (Tiegen) Suby. In 1936 her family moved to Mason City where she attended school and graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. On April 9, 1950, Dolores was united in marriage to Richard Avise. In 1960 the couple moved to Rockwell and resided on a farm. To their union, three children were born.

Dolores was a homemaker and also farmed for most of her life. With her husband working at the post office; Dolores did a majority of the farm work. She was an incredibly hard worker. She also took care of all the household duties and made sure to have dinner on the table. Dolores was an excellent cook; her children and grandchildren always made sure to attend Christmas dinner.

Dolores was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the WELCA church circle at St. Peter's and Clerk Auxiliary in Mason City. In her free time she enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, playing cards and needlework. Dolores sewed her daughter's outfits and made quilts for the church.

Throughout her life, Dolores took many bus trips with Richard; they went all over together. Every Saturday evening Dolores would watch the same television show and every Sunday morning after church she would listen to the same music.

Dolores will be remembered by her family for her selfless love to others and strong faith. She was devoted to God and to her family. Her caring nature for everyone around her will be missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children: Jacki (Bill) Burkes of Bixby, Oklahoma, Jerry (Lori) Avise of Rockwell and Janette (Michael) Caspersen of Rockwell; six grandchildren: Mick (Holly) Lowe, Mark (Staci) Lowe, Michelle (Jake) Wilder, Chris (Melissa) Avise, Kristin (Jordan) Schwarck and Katie (Andy) Bills; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Donna Tanner and Jeannie Jacobson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Avise on July 7, 2010; parents, William and Louise Suby; three brothers: Duard, David and Dennis Suby and two brothers-in-law, Roland Tanner and David Jacobson.
