Charles M. Prohaski, 83, of Mason City, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military rites will take place at the cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be directed to the Charles Prohaska Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Chuck was born June 21, 1930, in Mason City, the son of Charles E. and Jennie (Olson) Prohaski. In 1947, he entered the United States Air Force. Chuck was deployed overseas and through the years was stationed in Okinawa, England, Norway, Puerto Rico and back to Okinawa.

He married Eileen Haggar June 15, 1957, in England.

Upon his honorable discharge in 1969, he returned home and worked for AC Nielsen Co. until the Mason City office closed. Chuck was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Nora Springs American Legion, VFW Post #733 and the Mason City Veterans Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Eileen of Mason City; son, Vern (Mindy) Prohaski of Nora Springs; daughter, Kathy (Mark) Moore of Rockford; grandchildren, James (Ashley) McDonnell, Jim Moore and special friend Sammi Barlow, Kelsey (Jeremy) True and Mike Moore; great-grandchild, Kasen True; brothers, John (Janan) Prohaski of Waukon, Darrell (Eileen) Prohaski of Florida and Dwayne (Stephanie) Prohaski of Mason City; sister-in-law, Judy Wilkings of England; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chuck was preceded in death by one sister, Pat Pike, and one brother, Bob Kilfoil.
