MASON CITY -- Steven D. "Harley" Abendroth, 43, of 427 S. Polk Place, died Thursday (April 13, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, after a long battle with diabetes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Rick Eichenlaub of the First Christian Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and until the time of the service on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to the Steven Abendroth Memorial Fund.

Steven D. "Harley" Abendroth was born June 9, 1956, in Iowa City, to Howard Lloyd Abendroth and Marlene Eppens. He attended Mason City schools.

On Sept. 14, 1991, Steven was united in marriage with Tina Gabel in Mason City where they made their home.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing pool and motorcycling as well as spending time with his horses, cats and dogs.

Steven is survived by his wife, Tina Abendroth, Mason City; his mother, Marlene Tvedt, Mason City; his father and stepmother, Howard and Sharon Abendroth, Lake Mills; four brothers, Mick Abendroth, Colorado Springs, Colo., Donny Abendroth, Mason City, David Abendroth, Tacoma, Wash., and Scott Abendroth, Mason City; two sisters, Jayne Marie Peterson and husband, Gary, Granada, Minn., and Terry Abendroth, Ackworth, Iowa; grandmother, Vivian Eppens, Mason City; mother-in-law, Theresa Gabel, Mason City; father-in-law, Roger Gabel, Floyd; sister-in-law, Michele Borchardt and her husband, Todd, Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Adam Gabel, Mason City.
