Esther A. 'Thompson' Nauman, 74, of Mason City, Iowa, died Friday, March 7, 1997 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Graveside Inurnment services were held Tuesday, March 11 at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. David Olson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Manly, Iowa, officiating.

Esther was born Feb. 25, 1923 at Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Rodberg) Vaage. She graduated from the Hanlontown High School. She was united in marriage to Orville Thompson on Oct. 11, 1942 at Albany, Mo. She made her home with her parents while Orville served his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, they lived near Hanlontown, Iowa, and Fertile, Iowa. Following his death in 1963 she raised her family in Hanlontown and Clear Lake. On July 6, 1965 at Charles City, Iowa, she married Arthur Nauman. They then lived in St. Charles, Mo. and later Davenport, Iowa. In 1968 they moved to Mason City, where she made her home since. Arthur preceded her in death in 1984.

She is survived by three sons, James and his wife, Sheryl Thompson, Manly, Steven and his wife, Peggy Thompson, St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Jeffrey Thompson, Mason City; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Elwood, Jonesburg, Mo.; and one brother, Arthur, and his wife, Maxine Vaage, Des Moines, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Orville and Arthur; and two brothers, Earl and Orvin Vaage.
