Shirley Ann Miller, 78, of Mason City, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th Street NW, with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Shirley was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Thompson, Iowa, the daughter of Christ and Alice Storvik. She graduated from Thompson High School then Hamilton Business College in Mason City. Shirley married Daryl Dean Miller Dec. 14, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She began working in Mason City, first for Don Helbling Photography, then Mason City Brick and Tile Co., the Mason City Globe Gazette then Herb & George’s Radio & TV.

Some of Shirley’s interests included camping, flowers, shopping with her daughter, bus trips, crossword puzzles, watching TV with Daryl, the Minnesota Twins and having coffee with friends at Hy-Vee East and coffee with Dorothy Matson and the girls on Saturdays. Most importantly was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Shirley was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Shirley is survived by her husband Daryl of Mason City; 3 children, Kenneth Miller of Houston, Texas, Jay (Mary) Miller of Mason City and Lynne (Tom) Wilson of Sac City; 3 grandchildren, Alex Miller of Tacoma, Washington, Ashley (Marcus) Lunning of Ankeny and Paige Miller of Houston, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren, Griffin, Graham and Georgia Lunning, all of Ankeny.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, James and 1 sister, Gladys.
