Karin Sue Hartnett, 51, of 707 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa died Thursday April 16, 2015 at her home.
Memorial Mass will 11:00a.m. Wednesday April 22, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. John Gossman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30p.m.-7:00p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake with a scriptural wake service at 7:00p.m. and then one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Family suggests memorials go to the Humane Society of North Iowa.
Karin was born in Lincoln, Nebraska the daughter of Robert and Gisela (Jansen) Oliphant.
She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1982 and then attended N.I.A.C.C. She worked at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake at the cottages. During high school, she met her future husband Tim, and they were married on May 26, 1984 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She worked as a collection supervisor at IC Systems for several years before eventually becoming a personal support professional at Mason City Services until October of 2014.
Karin’s primary focus throughout her life was her four sons and her husband. Aside from her boys, Karin loved her dogs (Katie, Clancy, Imogene, and Chance), taking long walks with her husband, reading romance novels, listening to R&B music, reminiscing, laughing, watching her favorite shows, taking family vacations, decorating and giving for the holidays, having cute hair, and sitting in the sun.
She is survived by her husband Tim Hartnett of Clear Lake, her four sons: Sean (Ashley) Hartnett of Cedar Falls, Matthew Hartnett, Colin Hartnett, and Stephen Hartnett of Clear Lake, her sisters: Jackie Oliphant of Waverly and Michelle McLaughlin of Clear Lake, her father-in-law Donald Hartnett of Clear Lake, and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Gisela Oliphant, her father Robert Oliphant, her sister Marianne Thoendel, her aunt Marianne Jansen, her mother-in-law Janet Hartnett, and step mother-in-law Pamela Hartnett.
