Janice I. Joynt, 71, of 1010 Village Rd., Clear Lake, Iowa died Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
Memorial Mass will be 10:30a.m. Monday Dec. 10, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. John Gossman officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with a scriptural wake service being held at 3:00p.m. followed by a rosary. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Memorials in memory of Janice Joynt.
Janice was born Feb. 1, 1941 in Emmetsburg, Iowa the daughter of George and Myrtle (Harvey) Harrison.
She attended school in Cylinder and then Emmetsburg graduating in 1959. She then attended Gale Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Following school she went to work in Washington D.C. for the Dept. of United States Navy.
She later moved back to Emmetsburg and worked for Pamline Manufacturing where she met her future husband Jerry. They were married Sept. 7, 1963 in Assumption Catholic Church, Emmetsburg. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa where they raised their family.
She started a modeling agency and JIsabel Cosmetics. She later owned and operated a Day Spa, Pure Concepts, in Ellsworth, Kansas and Seabrook, Texas. After they retired they moved to Clear Lake, Iowa in 2006 to be closer to their children.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, growing flowers, gardening, playing cards, talking on the phone and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake.
Janice is survived by her husband Jerry Joynt, Clear Lake, Iowa; seven children Paul Joynt, Ankeny, Iowa and his significant other Valerie Doohen, Sioux City, Iowa, David (Michell) Joynt, Highpoint, North Carolina, Bob (Sara) Joynt, Klemme, Iowa, Mary Ellen Scioneaux, Ames, Iowa, Ann (David) Boudreaux, Sulphur, Louisiana, Kathy Joynt, Ames, Iowa and Theresa Joynt, Garner, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; two sisters Dorothy (Walter) Nase, Mankato, Minnesota and Marilyn (Larry) Egland, Emmetsburg, Iowa and two sister-in-laws Cathy Harrison, Albany, New York and Donna Harrison, Peterson, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers William, James, Glenn, Richard, George Jr. and Paul Harrison and two sisters Betty Gjerde and Lois Cody.
