David Duane Gagnon, 82 of Lonsdale, MN, formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Dennis Ganz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.

David was born June 18, 1934, the son of David S. and Lydia M. (Schonever) Gagnon in Clear Lake. He married Loreen Moretz on June 1, 1958, in Clear Lake.

A graduate of Clear Lake High School, David joined the United States Army during peacetime from October 1955 to August 1957, and served in the Army Reserves for four years after being honorably discharged. During his time in the Army, he was recognized as a sharpshooter in both Rifle and Carbine, and also received a Good Conduct Medal. Following the Army Reserves, he worked for Marigold Dairies as a distributor for nine years, before working at Ruan Transport as a dispatcher for over 28 years, retiring in 1998.

David enjoyed going for walks, camping, gardening and reading. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. In recent years, he showed that love by providing special care for his wife, Loreen.

David is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Loreen Gagnon of Lonsdale, MN; two children, Denise (Michael) Palmer of Apple Valley, MN and Derrick (Lori) Gagnon of Lakeville, MN; three grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Gagnon of Lakeville, and Zoe Palmer of Apple Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Gagnon; and three sisters, Mary Purcell, Margaret Squier, and Lucy Ingham.
