Joyce Ellen Bennett, the daughter of Howard and Berniece (Nelson) Ginkens, was born February 8, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Rembrandt, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Rembrandt Consolidated School in 1966. After high school, she worked as a cook at Lake Creek Golf and Country Club, and later as a waitress at 3 & 71 Truck Stop. Joyce worked at Elmer's Grocery Store in Rembrandt while attending Storm Lake School of Cosmetology.

Joyce married David Bennett on September 25, 1976, in Rembrandt. To this union, two daughters were born, JaMae and Aletha. She opened Joyce's Beauty Shop and operated that for many years. She was later part owner of the Main Street Diner in Rembrandt for a period of time. Joyce began working for Walmart in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she was presently employed as an associate in the Deli Department.

Joyce passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David in 2003; one brother, Marion Ginkens; and one sister, Arlene Panhorst.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dena Ginkens of Arizona, JaMae (Korey) Dau of Sutherland, IA, Aletha (Jay) Bennett of Sac City, IA, and Randie (Jason) Grotluschen of Sac City, IA; her stepchildren: Ruth (Bob) McNeece of Port Angeles, WA, Joyce Fisher of Dexter, IA, Dick Bennett of Marathon, IA and Jewell (Al) Kruckman of Albert City, IA; one brother, Harry (Nancy) Ginkens of Marion, IA; one sister, Shirley Jones of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren: Kate, Karson, and Hayley Dau, B.J. Grotluschen and Zack Ginkens; great- grandchildren: Miika, Syann, and Sarren Grotluschen; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, with Pastor Rhonda Wykoff officiating. Visitation will begin 5:30 P.M., Friday with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Casket bearers will be Jason Grotluschen, Jason Kester, B.J. Grotluschen, Korey Dau, David "Harry" Haroldson and Vaughan Haroldson.

Musical selections will be "In The Garden" By Hondo Mosbo, "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" by the Congregation with Eloise Obman, organist. Interment will be made at Little Sioux Valley Cemetery, Rural Rembrandt, Iowa
