MASON CITY - Virginia J. Anderson, 80, of 521 15th St. N.W., died Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Thomas Healey, chaplain of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Virginia J. Anderson Memorial Fund.

Virginia J. Anderson was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Mason City, the daughter of Samuel and Olga (Olick) Sazanovich. She graduated from Mason City in 1938. She was united in marriage to Emory S. Anderson on Nov. 6, 1948, in Mason City. She worked at the VFW for many years. Following the VFW she worked at AMPI (Associated Milk Producers Incorporated).

Virginia enjoyed reading, following politics and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Emory S. Anderson Jr. and his wife, Teresa, and his children, Allissa and Ashley Anderson, all of Mason City; her daughter, Andee Anderson of Mason City; one brother, Donald Sazanovich of Mason City; a niece, Verdine Erickson of Mason City; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
