Robert Carl Humberg was born December 3, 1946 in Mason City to Carl and Arlene (Dirks) Humberg. He attended Clear Lake High School and when he was 16 became the youngest person to earn a pilot’s license and drove the Old Show Boat on Clear Lake. On August 15, 1965 Robert married the love of his life, Linda Luick at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. To this union two children were born, Laurie and Todd. Robert began his working career working with boat livery services all over the Clear Lake area, as well as working at Winnebago in its very early days. Throughout the years Robert was able to experience many different types of work. He worked as a permit Iron Worker, at AGP Bean Plant, Farmer’s Cooperative in Thornton, and finally at Martin Marietta as a heavy machine operator.

Bob enjoyed hunting, shooting trap, fishing, and trapping, and was an avid coin collector. He loved racing of any sort, visiting many tracks around the area during race season. He also liked watching NASCAR as an avid Dale Jarrett fan, and attended races at Talladega, Michigan International, and Texas Motor Speedways. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association and a former member of the Ventura Gun Club. Most of all Bob loved his family, his dog Boots, spending time with his grandchildren, and being a part of five generations of trappers.
