Loren Leroy Baker, 94, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa.

A private graveside service will be held in Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Clear Lake United Methodist Church or to a charity of their choice.

Loren was born September 14, 1922, the son of Jeremy G. and Carrie (Johnson) Baker in Forest City, Iowa. A graduate of Ventura High School, Class of 1941, Loren served in the military during World War II. After returning home in 1946, he was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1998.

Loren married Rahma Andersen on December 27, 1969, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He enjoyed working with stained glass, gardening and sharing his sense of humor with everyone. He was also a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Loren is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Larry) Anderson; two granddaughters, Erika (Robert) Johnson and Sara (Eric) Nehman; four great-grandchildren, Reagan, Lauryn, Logan and Harper; and one step-great-granddaughter, Rylee; two siblings, Robert (Marion) Baker and Margaret Vaage; and many nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rahma; and his siblings, Donald Baker and Dorothy Pitkin.

Loren’s family wishes to thank the Oakwood staff for their excellent care during his stay.
