Virgil Ouverson, 103, Fertile, Iowa died Sunday Dec. 11, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday Dec. 17, 2016 at the Church of Christ, Fertile, Iowa with Rev. Rob Perry officiating. Burial will be in Grant Twp. Cemetery, rural Fertile, Iowa. Visitation will be Saturday one hour before the service at the Church of Christ, Fertile, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Church of Christ, Fertile, Iowa or St Labre Indian School, Ashland, Montana.

Virgil was born Nov. 30, 1913 in rural Fertile, Iowa the son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Trustum) Ouverson.

Virgil married Virginia Ruth Ballantyne July 4, 1936 at the Church of Christ Church, Fertile, Iowa.

Virgil had various jobs from farming for 11 years, plumbing and heating for 13 years, operating the Fertile locker for a couple of years and then driving truck for Winnebago Industries for 18 years retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed fishing, flowers, gardening, scrapping junk and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He lived his faith, and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, Fertile, where he was a deacon for 20 years.

Virgil is survived by his three sons Larry (Judy) Ouverson, Yellville, AK., Dennis (Ethyl, deceased) Ouverson, Sebring, FL. and Roger (Susan) Ouverson, Vinton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren JoLynda, Angie, Ericka, Jennifer, Thomas, James, Betsy, Laura, Anna and Lucas; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth; a son Jimmie Ouverson; a daughter Rosalie Ouverson; daughter-in-law Ethyl Ouverson; six brothers Emory, Harley, Edwin, Melvin, Lawrence and Clarence Ouverson; and his sister Mary.
