Darlene Joyce Buchan, 77, of Clear Lake, Iowa died Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 7, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa. Family will greet friends Monday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the Church. Family suggests memorials to Oakwood Care Center in memory of Darlene. Family ask that you please dress casual.

Darlene was born August 4, 1937 in Fairmont, MN the daughter of Rudolph W. and Malinda E. (Loeslin) Milow. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilbert, MN. She attended Parochial school until 8th grade and then graduated from Ceylon High School, Ceylon, MN.

After high school she worked at General Mills in Minneapolis and later was the secretary at Fairmont Jr. High.

Darlene married Randy Buchan June 22, 1958 St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilbert, MN. They made their home in Fairmont, Mason City and Clear Lake. She was a homemaker for over twenty years and then went to work for Corner Drug Store in Clear Lake for over 18 years, until she retired.

She enjoyed biking, traveling and spending winters in Gulf Shores, AL. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Keynotes Chorus for many years and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, Iowa.

Darlene is survived by her husband Randy Buchan, Clear Lake, Iowa; her four children Pamela (Brian) Thomsen, and their sons Riley and Ian, St. Louis, MO., Lynne (Don) Bray and their children D.J., Emily and Sydney, Swampscott, MA., Rick (Jackie) Buchan, and their sons Mitchell and Trevor, Albany, CA. and Brad (Jodi) Buchan, and their children Ben and Zoey, Johnston, IA.; her sister Elaine Krueger, Fairmont, MN. and brothers Roland (Ruth) Milow, Fairmont, MN., Wallace (Barbara) Milow, Zumbrota, MN. and Gerald (Mary) Milow, Fairmont, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Delores Draper.
