May 03, 2016MASON CITY — Luella L. Funk, 68, of Mason City, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Luella Lucille Funk was born Nov. 11, 1947, a daughter of Franklin W. and Arailia M. (Bethke) Betow in Osage, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Osage High School. Luella married Joseph Funk Sr. on Jan. 18, 1969, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and to this union two children were born, Joseph Jr. and Bobbie Jo.
Luella loved to shop. She could often be found browsing the racks at JC Penney’s or going to rummage sales. She also enjoyed watching “Hee Haw”, coloring, and spending time with Oreo, her cat.
After her husband passed away in 1988, Luella began working for Kraft for a number of years before working for Affordables until she retired due to health reasons.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church until 2013, when she joined Trinity Lutheran Church. Luella and her sister Alberta made a lot of friends through the Van Ministry and other church activities.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Funk Jr., Denver, Colorado, Bobbie Jo Funk and fiancé Jamie De Maris, Mason City, and David Funk, Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Joshua Funk and Allison Hefti, both of Mason City; her sister, Alberta Cresswell, Mason City; and two nephews, Craig and Mike Cresswell both of Mason City.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Funk Sr., her parents, Franklin W. and Arailia M. (Bethke) Betow, two sisters, Frances Hannam and Margaret Betow, and a brother-in-law, David Cresswell.
