MASON CITY - Vincent R. Deviney, 92, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

Vincent R. Deviney was born March 1, 1908, in Waukon, the son of James J. and Margaret (O'Brien) Deviney. His family moved to Mason City in 1921 and he graduated from St. Joseph's High School. On Aug. 13, 1938, Vince was united in marriage to Helen A. Prall in New Ulm, Minn.

Vince and Helen lived at 808 N. Carolina for 58 years. He worked for Standard Oil for 44 years, retiring as an auditor in 1969.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and St. Vincent's DePaul. He was active with the Senior Citizen's Center and delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Vince was an avid gardener, and also enjoyed traveling, golfing, woodworking and, especially, playing cribbage.

Left to survive him are his two daughters and their families, Dixie Sullivan and her husband, Jerry, of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Diana Krieger and her husband, Denny, of Iowa Falls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Esther Prall Boatwright, of Osprey, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1996; and four brothers and five sisters.
