Sunday, October 23, 2016URBANDALE — Grace A. Condon, 56, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Her courageous battle with breast cancer and leukemia came to an end on Oct. 18, 2016.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Des Moines, followed by a prayer service.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Grace was born Sept. 15, 1960, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Milda (Seidel) Heyden. She grew up in Plymouth, Iowa, and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
On July 13, 1991, she was united in marriage to Brian H. Condon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Des Moines and they made their home in Urbandale, Iowa.
She worked as a quality assurance analyst for Telligen. She treasured her friendships with all of her co-workers, current and past.
Grace loved spending time with her family, her two dogs and two cats. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her relatives and friends.
Grace is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Brian; her 9 siblings: Stanley (Myrna) Heyden, Blair, NE, Kenneth (Ruth) Heyden, Vernon, CT, Carol (David) Huebner, Manhatten, KS, Joyce (Ken) Kleven, Rockford, IA, Marilyn (Gus) Engels, Rockford, IA, Myrna (Jeff) Burger, Altoona, IA, Gloria (Greg) Friedrich, Urbandale, IA, David (Jo Lynn) Heyden, Hampton, IA and Paul (Linda) Heyden, Plymouth, IA; Brian’s siblings: Alyce Ann (Patrick) Lawler, Fort Dodge, IA, Phil (Janiece) Condon, Clare, IA, David (Jane) Condon, Lohrville, IA, Kevin (Melanie) Condon, Glendale Heights, IL, Clem (Diane) Condon, Phoenix, AZ, Bernard (Tammy Reiling) Condon, Fort Dodge, IA, Sheila Condon, Ames, IA and Maureen Condon, Knoxville, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Heyden; mother, Milda Heyden Willis; stepfather, Wayne Willis; father and mother-in-law, Clement and Alice (Walsh) Condon and sister-in-law, Kay Condon.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the nurses, staff and doctors on 8 South at Mercy Hospital for their wonderful care and thoughtfulness for Grace and her family. Her family would also like to extend a special thank-you to the nurses, staff and volunteers at HCI Hospice for their care and support for Grace and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to HCI Hospice or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
