November 01, 1996MASON CITY -- Esther Jane Beal, 74, of 632 S. Polk Pl., died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 1996) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and will be held one hour prior to services at the church today.
Esther Jane Beal was born March 7, 1922, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Charles Leroy and Goldie (Howard) Mitchell. She married Raymond Voss in 1943. He was killed in action in World War II. She then married John D. Beal on April 27, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Esther grew up in Clear Lake and attended Clear Lake Schools. She worked 11 years at the Mason City Country Club. She then worked nine years at Wal-Mart in the lawn and garden department, which carried over to her love of flowers. She enjoyed sitting on her patio and sharing the view with family and friends.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jerrilea Voss and Sharon Madsen, both of Mason City; two grandchildren, Aaron Madsen, and Aimee Bjerke and her husband, Jason, all of Mason City; two great- grandchildren, Jordan and Andrew Bjerke, both of Mason City; two sisters, Ruth Farrow of Perham, Minn., and Kathryn Ekborg of North Bend, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Larry Beal; and two brothers, Howard and Kenneth Mitchell.
