MASON CITY -- Leslie L. Bugbee, 95, of Mason City died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service.

Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Leslie Bugbee memorial fund in care of the family.

Leslie Lee Bugbee was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Sherbrooke, North Dakota, the son of Loring and Bessie (Loomis) Bugbee. He attended school in Sherbrooke. On April 20, 1941, Leslie married Vivian L. Johnson in Mayville, North Dakota.

In 1944, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Leslie returned to North Dakota and in 1948 he and his family moved to Joice, Iowa, where he farmed until 1956. The family then moved to Hawthorne, California, where Leslie worked as a welder for General Motors until 1964, when they returned to Lake Mills, where he farmed and worked as a welder for Fleet Guard. In 1991, he moved to Mason City. Leslie enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed farming, working hard, keeping busy, dancing at the Surf Ballroom and listening to music – especially polka. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Leslie is survived by his wife of 73 years: Vivian Bugbee of Mason City; his children: Verdean Bugbee and wife Dorthe of Beaverton, Oregon, and Beverly McMurray and husband Charles of Mason City; four grandchildren: Caroline Kuhn and husband Michael of Kelso, Washington, Carin Gordon and husband Daniel of Walla Walla, Washington, Vanessa Gregory and husband Eric of Seattle, Washington, and Michelle Shekleton and husband Kevin of Kansas City, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren: Amelia, Ryker, Luke, Vivian, Soren, Maren, Hanna, Philip and Jack; a brother: Melvin Bugbee and wife Amy of Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
