MASON CITY — The light in our lives is dimmer today because we have lost someone we love so much. She is a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Most of all she is a friend. Mary will be missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered with gladness in our hearts.

Mary Lou Bryant, 67, of 620 S. Polk Ave., died Thursday (Jan. 6, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Mark D. Culham of Hanford Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and visitation will resume until the time of the service at the funeral home Monday. At 7 p.m. today there will be a service performed by the Women of the Moose.

Memorials may be directed to the Mary Bryant Memorial Fund.

Mary Lou Bryant was born at Thornton, the daughter of Charles P. and Frances I. (Merchant) Miller. She attended Mason City schools.

On Feb. 7, 1953, she married M. Neil Bryant in Sioux Falls, S.D. They made their home in Mason City. She worked for many years at Mason City Laundry and also various other jobs in town. Mary Lou retired in 1998.

Mary Lou was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years as well as the Statler Brothers Fan Club.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, cooking, listening to her scanner and visiting with her special friends, Ray and Martha, on her back porch. She was an avid Vikings fan and loved watching Nascar and stock car races.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Becky Moorehead and her husband, Randy, Mason City; two sons, Tom Bryant and his wife, Carmen, Manly, and Brad Bryant and his fiance, Rachel Freese, Mason City; four grandchildren, BillieJo and Brandi Moorehead, Kyle Christopher Bryant, and Chelcie Faye Bryant; eight brothers and sisters, Donald J. Miller, Mason City, Duane Miller and his wife, Judy, Welaka, Fla., Ivan Miller and his wife, Marlene, Whittier, Calif., Joyce Francis, Mason City, Doris Dischler and her husband, Denny, Mason City, Vern Miller and his wife, Darcy, Mason City, Audry Johnson and her husband, J. P., Mason City, and Gary Miller and his wife, Marlene, Northwood; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Darold Miller; and a daughter, Terry, in infancy.
