MASON CITY — Vincent W. Boozell, 78, of Mason City, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, in the spring.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a scriptural wake service followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:30 p.m.

Vincent William Boozell was born July 4, 1937, in Webster City, the son of Virgil and Nellie (Walsh) Boozell.

He graduated from Webster City High School before attending Loras graduating in 1959, and Drake, where he graduated in 1965 with a master's in education. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 where he served honorably. He worked as an English, Latin and special education teacher for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church since 1978, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a past Grand Knight twice.

Vincent met his wife at Young Christian Workers, and the two were married on Jan. 4, 1964. They were blessed with four children: two boys and two girls.

He liked to travel, visiting his children and grandchildren, being outside white water rafting, canoeing, and camping. In his free time Vincent enjoyed golfing, bridge, fishing and chess, especially beating his children at the game, but most important to him was his family. In college, Vincent worked as a fire spotter, standing in the tower, in Oregon. He never shied away from a debate, loving a good political discussion.

Vincent was an amazing, steadfast, loving father and a loving and devoted husband. He was a true Christian since the day he was baptized.

Survivors include his wife,children: two sons and one daughter; 10 grandchildren; three brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nellie (Walsh) Boozell, a daughter, Mary Boozell, and two sisters, Lorene and Patty.
