MASON CITY - Richard V. "Bud" Blake, 94, of St. Frances Manor, Grinnell, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday (June 18, 2002) at St. Frances Manor in Grinnell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held until time of services today at the funeral home.

Bud was born Jan. 13, 1908, in Mason City, the son of William B. and Clara (McClarn) Blake. He attended school in Mason City. Bud married Frances Colegrove on Aug. 29, 1929, in Kirksville, Mo.

Bud was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement Co. as a foreman for 43 years, retiring in 1968.

The Blakes moved to Weslaco, Texas, in 1979, then to New Sharon, Iowa, in 1993.

Bud is survived by his wife, Frances B. Blake, of Grinnell; two sons, Richard C. Blake and his wife, Sally, of Montezuma, and Ken L. Blake and his wife, Anita, of La Crosse, Wis.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
