MASON CITY - Harold F. Bianco, 87, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday (June 14, 2001) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Jani Dahlin, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Charles H. McNider Art Museum.

Harold was born on March 5, 1914 to Anthony and Jessie (Cavendar) Bianco, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He attended both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, graduating from Iowa State with a degree in Architectural Engineering.

Harold was married to Alice Wagler on Feb. 24, 1940. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he returned to Iowa and moved to Mason City during the 1940s.

Harold practiced architecture in the area for years, served on the State Board of Architectural Registration for years, and was an active member of the Masonic organization and the Elks.

Harold is survived by a brother Robert, of Stuart, Fla.; a son, James Bianco and his wife, Lynne, of Minnetonka, Minn.; a daughter, Lisa Bianco, of Iowa City; and four grandchildren, James Bianco and wife, Lori, of Berkley, Calif., Krista Strom and husband, Dan, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Aaron, of Minneapolis and Nicholas Zuehlke, of Iowa City.

Harold was preceded in death by his son, Steven and wife, Alice.
