MASON CITY -- Martha E. Butler, 95, of 302 2nd St. N.E., died Friday (Jan. 24, 2003) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.E., with Rev. Sarah Rohret Odoom officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Martha was born March 4, 1907, in Mason City the daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Buehler. Martha graduated from Mason City High School in 1924, then attended Hamilton Business College. She went on to work for the Crane Company then Buehler and Bishop Grocery Store. In 1963, Martha went to work for the Cerro Gordo County assessor retiring in 1973.

She married O.G. "Cotton" Butler June 10, 1945, in Mason City.

Martha was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, charter member of Pilot Club, Garden Club, Mason City Women's Club and enjoyed traveling, golfing and bridge.

Martha is survived by a niece; Elizabeth Hanson and husband, Richard, of Minneapolis, Minn.; nephews, Wally Bishop and wife, Carol, of Palisade, Minn., David Bishop and wife, Mary, of Victoria, Minn.; many loving great nieces and nephews; special friend, Berniece Lunde of Mason City.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, O.G. "Cotton" Butler; two sisters, Lydia Bishop and Louise Kahle; infant brother and sister.
