MASON CITY - Roy Michael Evanoff, 78, died Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2008) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 1311 Second St. S.W. in Mason City, with Father Joseph Mirowski officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Trisagion service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Roy Michael Evanoff was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Mason City, the son of Michael and Tsana (Rashcoff) Evanoff. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1947 and Mason City Junior College in 1954. Roy enlisted in the United States Army on July 14, 1948, and later was honorably discharged. Roy was a butcher for Armour for 19 years.

Roy enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing; he was a member of the VFW.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Deborah, of California; sisters, Verna Krivohlavy of Anaheim, Calif., Bonnie Pattee of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mary Anne (Larry) Austin of Seattle, Wash.; along with several nieces, and nephews; very good friend, Mike Smith, of Mason City; other relatives and friends.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Evanoff.
