Viola L. Westcott, 79, of 1520 Eighth St. S.W., died Saturday (Dec. 30, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. The Rev. Donald Simmonds of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Viola L. Westcott Memorial Fund.

Viola was born April 9, 1916, the daughter of LeRoy and Molly (Halverson) Abbott. She married Donald A. Westcott on April 16, 1938, and would have been married for 58 years this coming April. Viola took civil defense training in the 1960s, was past president of Hoover PTA, and a former Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include her husband, Donald A. Westcott, of Mason City; one son, Melvin Westcott and wife, Judy, of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Linda Magnuson and husband, James, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Julie Traft and husband, Kenneth, of Shakopee, Minn.; and one grandson, Nick Olson of Shakopee, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty; and two brothers, Don and Roy.
