Juanita J. Riser, 71, of 331 - 28th Street S.W., died Friday (September 13, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson with the Rev. Joel Dahlen officiating. Burial will be in the Grundy Center Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be given to the Juanita J. Riser Memorial Fund.

Juanita J. Riser was born Oct. 11, 1924, the daughter of Hans Henry and Goldie (Squibb) Smith in Scranton. Juanita graduated from Mason City High School in 1943. She then attended college in Ohio before returning back to Mason City where she worked for the Western Union Telegraph Office and Coca Cola Bottlers. Juanita also worked in the meat department at HyVee West for 15 years, retiring in 1984. Juanita was married to Earldon Kenneth Riser in 1944 in Mason City. Juanita enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching football and the Hawkeyes, traveling and her friends.

Juanita was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Riser and his wife Liz of Mason City, and Keith Riser of Mason City; four grandchildren, Jeff Riser and special friend Cindy Richardson of Mason City, Angie Riser of Mason city, Ty Riser and special friend Penny Gordon of Mason City, Ronnie Riser Jr. of Mason City; five great grandchildren, Johnny, Austin, Ashley, Abbie and Dustina; three sisters, Doris Leewright of Mason City, Lila Mathews of Mason City, and Sharon McBride and husband George of Mason City; two brothers, Vernon Smith and wife Bernedette of Neuvo, Calif., and Gerald Smith and wife Jackie of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and grandson and one sister.
